Privacy

When taking a look at privacy in today's society, it is a super important topic with the rise of new technology. The 2nd ted talk I took a look at talked about how the local police stations are tracking data from our cars and get to see exactly where we are going, including private places like churches and therapy. When taking a look at how this would directly affect my family and me, we have been going to church every Sunday since I was little, and the fact that there are people who can keep track of that is scary and very alarming. I truly understand them keeping a tab on places like government buildings or somthing of that sort, but keeping track of people's day to day where abouts is a big breach of privacy in my opinion. Even when it comes to webisted them, keeping a tab of all the faces it has is also scary. When the first ted talked explained that our online data outlives our physical bodies, that quote really put everything into perspective for me. I was like wow there is so much going on about us on the internet that we don't even know about. When looking at this from a government's perspective, I feel like there are some things that they can do to keep our data protected. One of the things is limit how much data these online companies can keep about us. In my opion there is no reason why Apple should have everyone's face in there data base there data base. There is nothing you could possibly need all that information for. When taking a look at the things we can do to protect ourselves, I would say to watch the websites we click on and watch who we are allowing to track our data.

are allowing to track our online data.

Eight Values of Free Expression

When taking a look at all the prompts, the prompt "Marketplace of Ideas" really resonated with me when I saw it. New ways of thinking and ideas are the future of society. If we are stuck in the past and not progressing like other countries will only get ahead more and more while we are stuck behind. A big way of getting ahead is letting people give opinions to the public. The way that I am, I love to get ahead in any way possible, for example, getting ahead of AI and seeing what ways it can help me advance in my profession and in my day-to-day life as well. If we couldn't freely give our opinions, how could we possibly get ahead? There is someone in their room inventing and thinking of new ideas, and if they can't freely say their thoughts, how could we possibly learn from what they have been creating and inventing? The internet has its good and bad parts about it, but one of the beneficial parts of the internet is the fact that we can talk freely and share ideas where people can look at it and build on someone else's idea and turn it into somthing way bigger than it what it orginaly was. A great example of this would be Bitcoin. Bitcoin was a random idea that was posted online in 2008, and people picked it up, and developers started building on it, and now it is a global financial asset worth hundreds of billions. Without the internet and people being able to give ideas freely somthing like Bitcoin would have never become what we know it is today. Freedom of speech is a big part of what makes America America; with that being said, the number of ideas that have been shared and brought to life is almost endless. Being able to put an idea out on the internet and the whole world is special because not every country has that amount of freedom to do things like this, and we as Americans can sometimes take it for granted or just overlook it because it is somthing that is given to us, but there are people in other countries that are actively fighting for the things that are given to us birth. So it's something that we should be really appreciative that we have because being able to share ideas out to the world is super beautiful and very empowering and the amount of people that you can inspire and the amount of things that you can create is something extremely special and I think that Americans should not take advantage of it and we should look at it as a gift and really take advantage of it because to be honest, we aren't really using this freedom to its max capacity. This could be something that is super built upon to where our future generation is looking back at older ideas taken from them and building upon them because we have more resources.
And there have been different things created to build upon these certain ideas.

Top 5 Sources of News

My number one source of news is a TikTok creator by the name of NizzyHypeTalks. Nizzy is an online creator who keeps up with all the current events and different moments that are going on on social media space. Nizzy In a way, has dedicated a lot of his time to social media news. I am really into social, and I have been keeping up with it since I was eleven years old. Ever since then, I have liked to stay in the loop with everything that is going on, and for the last two years or so, Nizzy's TikTok videos have kept me in the loop with everything going on. Nizzy's TikTok videos do a great job of informing people on what's going on in the social media space, with sources on where his news is coming from and debunking fake news.

My Number two source of news would have to be ESPEN. I am a big sports fan and have been
playing them since I was a child, and ESPN is the way I keep up with the scores of the games, where different players are getting traded too, and also general news across all major sports leagues such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, and many more. Throughout the day, I always get ESPN notifications on my phone because they have people working around the clock to get the latest sports news out fastest, which is why it is at my number two spot.

For my number 3 source of where I get my news from, it would have to be X, formerly known as Twitter. For the most part, when scrolling on social media platforms such as TikTok, it really only shows things that you are interested in and bases your algorithm on it. X is very similar in that way, but from my time on the app, it does a good job of showing you current events that are going on worldwide. Another feature that I like about X is that they added a text bar, which tells you if a tweet is spreading false information
so you know what the truth is.

For my number 4 source of where I get my news from would have to be Google News. Ever since I could remember, everyone always tells you if you don't know somthing just google and that's what I have been doing since then. Google is not the direct source, but it does a great job of pulling information from a bunch of different sources that you can go through and read. Every time I hear about somthing and want to learn more google is the place that I go to.

For my number 5 source of where I get my news from would have to be the local news station. When I was younger, my mom always had WXII news on in the morning, and it is a thing I carried into adulthood. Knowing what is going on globally is great, but knowing what's going on in your own community is even more important because it directly affects your day-to-day life.
